Live Match Coverage

21 mins: Fierce Action while Both Teams Compete

21st minute: The Broncos push forward to halfway and almost break through the opposition defense through Walsh and Shibasaki on the left side. Another superb kick from Reynolds on the final play keeps Brisbane's momentum. For three tackles they remain in control, but a couple of offloads free the rapid Jahrome Hughes, and as he's tackled on the defensive 40m line, a six-again is given for holding the player. The Storm are now in rhythm, and William Warbrick slices through the line, followed by Xavier Coates making a sprint – only for Reece Walsh to catch him high with a shoulder charge! Could that be a yellow card? Not according to the referee, says Atkins, because Coates was buckling. The fullback is under review nonetheless, and Melbourne continue their attack.

19 mins: Cameron Munster Directs Melbourne Attack

19 mins: Cameron Munster is busy as Melbourne move at speed down to their attacking 30m line. Down the right, Hughes kicks high, Katoa rushes up, but in the marking contest, the forward knocks on, and Brisbane finally get a respite.

18 mins: Melbourne Exert Pressure on Broncos

18 mins: The Storm execute a perfect set from the kickoff and apply significant pressure on Deine Mariner with the last tackle kick. Again, the Broncos fail to reach the midfield in response, and Adam Reynolds is compelled to boot it deep to keep his team in touch.

17th Minute: Setback for Melbourne

17th minute: It’s not all good news for Melbourne. Howarth has been replaced due to a groin injury. Tyran Wishart is entering in his position.

SUCCESSFUL TRY! Storm 12-6 Broncos (Eliesa Katoa, 15)

Brilliant, absolutely stunning. Following consecutive set restarts, the Broncos are tiring. From tackle three near the try line on the left side, Melbourne move the ball inside for a couple of passes before Hughes kicks it off the ground and the charging Eliesa Katoa times his charge perfectly to dive on the loose ball and stand to celebrate his side's second touchdown!

From slightly right of the uprights, Meaney converts his second goal.

12th Minute: Storm Display Thrilling Attack

12 mins: The Storm appear thrilling in offense. They have pace from the ruck, power from the forwards, and sharp passing from the backs. A threatening move concludes with a kick high to the left side that is dropped by Reece Walsh and leads to a penalty to the Storm for an obstruction on Coates. Melbourne reject the penalty goal and set up near the goalposts. They get a set restart – and a further one – as Munster weaves side to side.

10th Minute: Tense Play

10th minute: Utokiamanu has delivered as promised early and his run from the kickoff allows Harry Grant, then Ryan Papenhuyzen, to dart from acting half. Hughes kicks from 40m and Reece Walsh secures the bomb on his 10-meter line. The Broncos show less penetration this drive and get lucky on the final play when Hunt’s pass to Reynolds is dropped. Not to worry, the experienced playmaker kicks superbly to force Xavier Coates to retreat and makes the Melbourne wing to sprint from his in-goal. The Broncos are too eager with their pursuit, catching the Queenslander with a high tackle, and Storm can kick for favorable territory.

SUCCESSFUL TRY! Storm 6-6 Brisbane (Nick Meaney, 8)

After the scrum, Stefano Utoikamanu powers forward to the 20m line. Next, from quick ball off the back, every key Storm player get a touch as they catch and pass out to the right edge until Meaney straightens up, runs at an angle at serious pace, and carves through a weak tackle line to dive over for an immediate response!

Meaney recovers to kick the goal. It's a tied game!

7th Minute: Teams Exchange Possession

7th minute: The two teams trade conservative sets around halfway, but then the Broncos look to expand on their left side, only to fail to hit Shibasaki with the ball. William Warbrick advances quickly and forces a dropped ball for his troubles.

5th Minute: Ideal Opening for Broncos

5 mins: That is the perfect beginning for the Broncos, scoring first before the Storm have even handled the ball, in an offensive play dominated by both Haas and Walsh. The Melbourne might feel a little aggrieved at the referee awarding such an quick infringement, but they were clearly breached by the blistering Brisbane offense.

SUCCESSFUL TRY! Melbourne 0-6 Broncos (Mariner, 3)

After kicking downfield, the Broncos get to work. Melbourne concede a six-again for offside, and in no time the ball is in the danger area. Where is Walsh? Waiting on the right edge, drawing in Jack Howarth, holding his position, then somehow offloading to Deine Mariner on his outside. The outside back steps inside, crosses the try line, then just, only just remains in the playing area as he runs around to score under the posts.

There’s a delay before Reynolds dabs over the conversion, but the video official upholds the referee's call. The venue is erupting to the sound of jubilant Queenslanders.

2 mins: Quick Penalty

2 mins: Corey Jensen, not Payne Haas, takes the first hit-up of the night and the Storm are quick to tackle… but just three tackles later the Melbourne give away the opening infringement of the game for Grant interfering with Payne Haas on the ground. Brisbane immediately on the attack.
